Executive Board

Dr. James M. Hand, R.Ph., Ph.D.

is a seasoned executive with over 22 years of responsibilities in large and small pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Hand successfully structured deals for acquisitions and out-licensing of assets worldwide; including numerous executed deals in the US, EU, Pacific Rim and Asia.

Dr. Hand received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, was an American Heart Fellow, is a member of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and is a Registered Pharmacist. Recently, Dr. Hand completed two years as a Board Member for the Licensing Executives Society and remains active with the National and International organization. Dr. Hand is currently consulting with young, product oriented companies, on business development strategies and positioning of their assets, for partnering and commercialization.

Scientific Board

In addition to Conrex Pharmaceuticals Corp.’s R&D team, with over 60 years of combined clinical and pharmacology experience, Conrex’s scientific board consists of experts and leaders from an array of leading academic institutions.

Dr. ChoKyun Rha

is a professor of Biomaterials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Rha conducts research on the structure, properties and functions of biopolymers and biomaterials, the design and engineering of biopolymers and biomaterials, and microstructure synthesis and fabrications. Her current area of interest focuses on drug and natural product discoveries. Dr. Rha is also the director of the Malaysia-MIT Biotechnology program.

Dr. Martin C. Mihm

is a senior dermatopathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He is also an international consultant for pigmented lesions, lymphoma, and cutaneous inflammatory diseases. He is the co-director of the Pigmented Lesion Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital as well as the co-director of the Melanoma Pathology Program of the World Health Organization and co-director of the new Rare Tumor Institute founded in 2005 by the WHO. Dr. Mihm currently teaches Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Albany Medical College. Dr. Mihm has previously taught at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Thomas Jefferson Medical College.

David Kung, M.D.

holds dual board certification as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon as well as a maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Kung holds doctorates with honors from Harvard Medical School and Columbia University. He has completed with distinction, residencies in general surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of North Carolina/Duke University Medical Center. He presently holds academic appointments at Georgetown University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and is on staff at numerous Washington metropolitan hospitals.

Gottfried Lemperle, MD, PhD

An authority on plastic surgery, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle has contributed greatly to the field of medicine. He has written more than 250 scientific publications and co-authored several books, in addition to serving as an editor for a number of textbooks on plastic and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Lemperle has also conducted more than 600 scientific presentations and directed 12 scientific films and videos about new operation methods in plastic surgery. For more than 20 years, Dr. Lemperle was a professor at the University of Frankfurt in Germany, and he has held the role of Voluntary Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego, since 1998. Awarded with the Dieffenbach Medal by the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons in 2010, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle has made outstanding achievements in plastic surgery. While teaching at the University of Frankfurt and concurrently operating as Chief Resident and then Chief of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the St. Markus Hospital, Dr. Lemperle contributed a variety of operational strategies to the field. His innovations include breast reconstruction techniques and correction of facial malformations like cleft palate, among other advancements in plastic surgery. In 1979, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle founded Interplast Germany eV, a non profit that performs free plastic surgery for selected patients in developing nations who suffer from conditions that can be corrected through surgery. Since that time, Dr. Lemperle has completed 31 Interplast missions in several countries throughout Asia and Africa. He is an honorary member of the organization and continues to volunteer his services. Also involved in the industry of aesthetic biotechnology, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle serves as Chief Medical Officer of AscentX Medical, Inc., and Chief Medical Advisor of Hafod Bioscience B.V. He also serves as an honorary member of the Chinese Plastic Aesthetic Surgery Research Board. Dr. Lemperle lives with his wife and five children in San Diego, California.
